An 8.7 magnitude earthquake has occurred near Kamchatka Peninsula, Russia. A Tsunami alert has been upgraded to an Advisory for Zone D. Residents and visitors are strongly encouraged to stay away from marinas, beaches, and all waterfront areas at this time. Powerful currents at beaches and in harbors, marinas, bays, and inlets may be especially dangerous. In Sidney, the risk remains low. This is a precautionary measure to ensure public safety as conditions are monitored. Further updates will be provided as more information becomes available.    Read More >
